Lakelse Lake Provincial Park

This beautiful provincial park is home to old growth trees, sandy beaches, swimming, and water sports. Explore three public recreation sites including Furlong Bay Campground, Gruchy’s Beach, and the Lakelse Lake Picnic Site. BC Provincial Parks are open from mid-May to September.

A great location during the summer months to relax on the beach and swim in the lake. The day-use picnic area has several picnic tables, a covered picnic shelter with wood stove and fire rings.

Furlong Bay Campground at Lakelse Lake

Furlong Bay Provincial Campground

A popular campground at Lakelse Lake Provincial Park featuring forested campsites, sandy day-use beaches, a roped swimming area, boat launch access, picnic areas, a playground and scenic walking trails.

Kayak and paddleboard rentals are available at the Lakelse Visitor Centre, where you can also stop in for ice cream!

Wind Surfing at Gruchys Beach

Gruchy’s Beach

This gorgeous, spacious sandy beach on the shore of Lakelse Lake is accessed by a stunning 1 km walking trail through old growth forest – and it’s worth every step! During late summer, visit the viewing platform near the parking lot to see spawning sockeye salmon.

Kalum Lake

Kalum Lake is easily accessed from the Kitsumkalum Provincial Park campground, and also offers some excellent paddling opportunities.  The sandy shoreline hugs the lake to the west of the campground and is a great beach for swimming.

Lava Lake

Lava Lake is located approximately 80km outside of Terrace in Nisga’a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park (Anhluut’ukwsim Lax̱mihl Angwinga’asanakwhl). The lake is a popular place to take a dip or go canoeing.

Hai Lake

Looking for a secluded swimming experience? Check out Hai Lake.  Access to Hai Lake is via Beam Station Road off of Queensway Drive – it can be a bit of an adventure to access but a 1 km hike through old growth trees brings you to thelake with a small rustic campsite.

Findlay Lake

Discover Findlay Lake off Hwy 113, 15 minutes north of Terrace. Look for the pullout just before Findlay Road. Park, follow the trail to a stunning turquoise swimming hole with a rope swing. Respect the adjacent private property and remember to leave no trace.

Clearwater Lakes

For another more remote swimming experience, check out Clearwater Lakes, located about a half an hour south from Terrace off Hwy 37 on the way to Kitimat.  After a moderate 6 km hike, enjoy a rewarding cool dip in Clearwater Lakes – you deserve it!
