Let’s Go!
The giant tents are already going up in George Little Park, soon sand will fill up the Mr. Mike’s parking lot, and come Saturday morning, people will be lining Lakelse Ave. bright and early, vying for the best lawn chair spot on the sidewalk to watch the parade.
These are the telltale signs that Riverboat Days is right around the corner!
This 10-day festival in Terrace is like the whole town throws open its front door, cranks up the music, and says, “let’s go!”
It’s part homecoming, part summer send-off, and part whirlwind, where, let’s be honest, it’s impossible to do it all. But if you’ve only got a few days (or the stamina of a human being who can’t attend every pancake breakfast, concert, and market), here’s a list of longstanding Riverboat Days favourites, and highlights of new events this year, making this a week to remember.
The tried-and-true favourites are holding strong — the Riverboat Days parade, Concerts in the Park, the epic Drone Show, the long-loved Mr. Mike’s Beach Blast beach volleyball tournament, and the Skeena Salmon Arts Festival Art Show are all back on the calendar.
But there’s also a bunch of new events you’ll want to make time for too.
LUNA’S PULSE MUSIC FESTIVAL
At the top of the list is the two-day music extravaganza, Luna’s Pulse Music Festival. Two late nights of live music, local artists and futuristic visuals, this two-day event surrounds you in light, sound, and movement. Expect holograms, lasers, cosmic stage design, and immersive art installations. The night-time shows are 19+ but there’s also a family-friendly daytime dance party for the kids. The lineup’s stacked with DJs, musicians and bands.
CATCH THE CURRENT UPDOG DISC EVENT
New this year is the Catch the Current Updog disc event. Dog-lovers can watch disc dog action that is fast, fun, and full of “did you just see that?!” moments. Whether your dog is a frisbee pro or you’re just watching from the sidelines, this will be a blast.
SEEK & FIND SCAVENGER HUNT & ESCAPE ROOM
Looking for super-fun group activities? Try out this year’s Skeena Valley Rotary Seek and Find – an Amazing Race-inspired scavenger hunt taking you through Thornhill and Terrace. Solve puzzles and win prizes! And if you love a good riddle, check out the Escape Room night at the Sportsplex. Teams of four work together to solve puzzles, crack codes and unlock the mystery.
KITSUMKALUM SALMON BBQ
After a few years off, the Kitsumkalum Salmon BBQ is making a return with tasty fresh Skeena salmon and all the fixings. If you haven’t had salmon straight off the barbecue, are you even doing Riverboat Days right?
