The Perfect Shot

Some places just look like Terrace. You know the ones — the wolves at the top of Terrace Mountain, the old bridge over the Skeena or the tree canopy over the road at Ferry Island.

Whether you’re here for a visit, or lucky enough to call this beautiful place that we love so much home, these are the must-photograph views that scream “Welcome to Terradise.”

While there are LOTS of amazing places to photograph, consider this your mini guide to the some of the most iconic, unmistakable spots in town — the ones that make the final cut for your favourite social media reel or scrapbook for home.

The Wolves on Terrace Mountain

This is fast becoming one of the most photographed spots in Terrace. A very short walk (think 10-15 minutes) up Terrace mountain on a wide, well maintained trail, you’ll find a rocky outcropping nestled in the woods that overlooks the Skeena River. That view alone is jawdropping, but when you add the art installation as well, it’s winner for sure. The Terrace Wolfpack features six steel sculptures of wolves. The artwork and the view together make a stunning memory from Terrace.

Local tip:

Hike up the Terrace Mountain Trail and follow the signage to The Wolves. The trail stays to the right.

Old Skeena Bridge from below

One of our favourite places to get a great shot of the Old Skeena Bridge over the Skeena River is from the Sipgawd view point near the south west bank of the river. If you turn toward Queensway Road at the south end of the Old Skeena Bridge, you’ll see a turn off toward the river.

There is a small parking area and interpretive signage talking about this historic and modern-day fishing location, called Sipgawd, by the Kitselas People. This is a traditional salmon harvesting location and was referred to as Little Canyon. This location is great because you can drive right to it, there is some interesting local history to learn AND it’s the perfect view of the bridge crossing the river.

Local tip:

Drive slowly in case there are other vehicles or pedestrians visiting the pullout.

Ferry Island Canopy

The canopy just past the power lines on the Ferry Island access road creates a moody, magical tunnel that everyone in Terrace instantly recognizes. It’s a local love-letter to the changing seasons, with golden leaves in fall and lush green light in summer. It’s a local favourite for family photos, wedding photos or just that iconic shot of your travel partner walking down the road beneath a canopy of gorgeous leaves. View our new page all about Ferry Island to learn more about this beautiful nature park.

Local tip:

For the pet lovers out there – not only is this an off-leash area for your pooch, it makes a great family photo with your favourite fur-baby.

The View from the deck at the Skeena Valley Golf & Country Club

Whether you’re a golfer or not, the view from deck of the Clubhouse at the Skeena Valley Golf & country Club is unbeatable. With the golf course stretching outward, the water features make picturesque additions with tall grass (even if they are a golfer’s nightmare!) to the spectacular mountains in the background.

Local tip:

Get this shot from the deck while enjoying some appies and a beverage at course’s restaurant. It’s the perfect end to playing a round of golf!

View from the Terrace Sportsplex overlooking George Little Park

Make your way to the front of the Terrace Sportsplex where you get an easy to access, outstanding view of George Little Park below with Sleeping Beauty Mountain on the horizon beyond.

Local tip:

Our favourite time to get this shot is sunset, but sunrise and any time during the day will work.

Kitselas Canyon

You get a three-for-one photo suggestion at the Kitselas Canyon National Historic Site. First – get a nice wide shot of all the longhouses. They are a beautiful tribute to northwest coast art and traditional art.

Second, take the interpretive walking trail to the river. On the way, stop at the four clan poles carved by master carve Stan Bevan and his team. These spectacular poles, nestled among the towering cedars makes a magical stop and a beautiful photo keepsake.

And finally, make your way to the viewing deck overlooking the deep Kitselas Canyon on the mighty Skeena river. This is where the Kitselas people traditionally controlled trade and passage on the river. A shot from the deck is a great way to remember this incredibly important historical location.

Local tip:

Check out the Kitselas Canyon operating hours on their website. Self-guided and interpretive tours are available.

These spots don’t just look great — they feel like Terrace. Next time you’re chasing the perfect light, wandering with a camera, or showing off your favourite corner of the northwest, hit one of these iconic places and capture that perfect Terrace moment.
