    Workshops Schedule and Description:

SEED SAVING IN THE NORTHWEST: 10:30–11:15
(Jolene Swain – Northern Seed Security Coordinator – FarmFolk-CityFolk)
Come learn about how seed saving and breeding projects preserve and enhance crop diversity, crucial to resiliency in our changing climate. Gardeners and farmers are the original breeders, preserving varieties that are our modern day heirlooms, which are also the foundation for new varieties and opportunities for breeding projects. Learn the basic rules of seed saving, and then how to experiment outside of the box. Seed from several breeding projects will be available to share to start you on your seed breeding journey.

PERMACULTURE: 11:30-12:15 (Carol and Gunther Rauschenberger)
Permaculture is simply a common-sense approach to agriculture and living, and is a holistic, living-in-harmony-with-nature worldview as well as a technical approach for how to do so. As Permaculturists, we will be sharing some of the permaculture ideas, designs and concepts that have captured our pursuit in developing a foodforest on land deemed non-agricultural in Terrace.

    MASON BEES: 12:30–1:15 (Dave Shannon)
Dave has been using Mason Bees for years and is an avid gardener and bee keeper. Come and see how to incorporate these busy pollinators into your garden to ensure a good fruit, berry and nut crop yield. A limited number of Mason Bee units are for sale so you can put this workshop to immediate use in your garden.
