A rafting, kayaking or canoeing adventure is a great way to explore the waterways and landscapes. Imagine yourself gliding quietly over the water or surfing the waves of a raging river.
With some of the largest snowfalls in the world, the Terrace area is home to top-class runoff. That means a great river running season April to November. At least 30 raft, canoe and kayak runs are within the immediate Terrace area including some of the best whitewater in the world. Be sure to check out Copper River and Williams Creek. Rapid, The Whitewater Magazine voted Terrace the ‘Best Creeking Town’ in 2010.
All inclusive, guided rafting trips on both whitewater and flat-water are offered or rent equipment and paddle on your own.
For those who simply want to watch others delight in the wonders of the water, the Lakelse Lake Dragon Boat Society hosts one or two regattas a year.
A Pleasure Craft Operator Card is required to operate power-driven boats and watercraft in Canada - It’s The Law.
Every person who operates a motorized boat in Canada must obtain proof of competency. You can obtain a Pleasure Craft Operator Card by passing a Transport Canada Accredited boating safety test. Getting your Operator Card proves that you are a competent boater and ensures that you understand Canada’s navigation rules and how to boat safely.
Boaters can obtain their official Pleasure Craft Operator Card, commonly known as a boat license or boat card, by successfully passing the BOATsmart! exam.
