Exchamsiks River Prov. Park
56 km west of Terrace on Highway 16, near the confluence of the Exchamsiks and Skeena rivers, this was once the site of a provincial campsite. Closed in 2002, the park is still a day-use area and was once part of the original road.
It now protects a rare stand of old-growth Sitka spruce-salmonberry, the only one in northern BC accessible by road.
The coastal Sitka spruce rainforest towers over the park and there is a short nature trail allowing visitors to stroll through this magnificent forest at their own pace. Across Exhamsiks River, accessible just past the road into the park, is a parking lot for the boat launch and access to the rivers for fishing and boating.
