Located 35 km west of Terrace in the spectacular Shames Valley amidst the majestic North Coast Mountain Range, the terrain leasehold is 7800 acres of which 225 are patrolled. This means the backcountry options are truly endless, opening up a whole new world of adventure right from the top of the T-Bar.
For those looking to conquer big mountain terrain, heli-skiing and cat-skiing offers the ultimate backcountry experience. Imagine carving through untracked powder, endless runs and breath-taking scenery. Operators in the region include highly trained and accredited guides who know how to read the terrain and keep you away from known hazards. Avalanche transceivers are typically provided along with training to ensure your experience will be memorable and safe. Day trips, as well as, all-inclusive packages should be booked in advance.
Nordic Dreams
The Onion Lake Cross-Country Ski Trails are just half an hour south of Terrace towards Kitimat. This amazing network of groomed trails ranges from 1km to 13 km loops and caters to all levels of difficulty for both classic and skate skiers. Stay at the moose cabin overnight or clock off a night ski on one of the lit trails.
